Subconscious Beliefs About Myself

Subconscious beliefs about myself

I confess.

I am addicted to personal development and I have pretty much tried it all, or at least a lot of it, from coaching and mentoring, through fasting and meditating to laughter therapy and energy work.

Since 2007, I have been on my journey of personal development. I have always had this continual desire in me to keep growing and developing myself.  Why? So that I can show up in the world and in my work as the most self-aware and authentic version of myself.

Recently, I took myself out for a “Whole Voice, Whole Life, Whole You” 3-day intensive retreat with the amazing Judith Quin-VocalConfidence. It was time to get myself right away from the distractions of everyday life and focus 100% on ME.

My goal going on this retreat was to have an unshakable belief in myself and what I have to offer. Those 3 days spent in the incredible energy of Avebury (where I took the photo above) and Glastonbury were a transformational experience for me.

It uncovered subconscious beliefs I didn’t know I had.

On a conscious level, I have a belief that there are no limitations to what we can do purely based on our gender. Yet the biggest thing that came out at the retreat was that subconsciously I had a very deep-rooted belief that I am limited as a woman.

This has never come up before in any personal development work I have done so imagine my shock!

The Power of Bringing Feminine Energy to the Boardroom

The one thing I pride myself on not believing in was a deep limiting belief.

We all to different levels have deep cultural and ancestral conditioning that is running on auto-pilot in the background and effectively running the show for us!

By tapping into this deep-rooted patriarchal programming I became aware of how black and white we can sometimes be in our viewpoints. As women, we may think that our roles as homemakers and mothers are separate from our working lives, but there is real power in bringing those energies together.

Imagine if we were all able to bring that nurturing, life-bearing energy into the boardroom. Imagine companies and organisations that encouraged and nurtured their staff and allowed new ideas to be birthed to create real change! I had a big lightbulb moment right there!

This is the real joy of self-development for me.

The opportunity to bring awareness to parts of myself that I may not have been conscious of so that I can overcome them and consciously choose to walk my path to bring change to the world.

Moment of Reflection:

Are you a self-development junkie? What do you enjoy most about it?
