The different types of human connection
The different types of human connection
Have you ever had the experience of meeting someone for the first time and yet you just clicked and connected? Maybe it even felt like magic or ‘out of this world’.
Lately, I have been thinking about CONNECTION beyond the traditional sense of this word.
CONNECTION is one of the four pillars of Organisation as a Platform, the type of organisation that is a force for positive change and good in the world. And my intention is to explore it deeper here.
I have a deep personal interest in spirituality and my life experiences beyond what I can see with my physical eyes, and comprehend with my mind. I am becoming increasingly more open to what I feel and what I see with the eyes of my heart.
I feel that I wouldn’t be me if I didn’t talk about HUMAN CONNECTION in a more open sense and open it up for discussion to the wider meaning and experience that we can have.
Have you ever met someone and felt like you have known each other for years? Like it was meant to be? Or have you ever dreamt of it happening to you?
Often we think this type of connection is reserved only for romantic relationships…
But, I believe that this special type of CONNECTION shows up in all relationships in our lives including work ones.
Kindred Spirits: My Personal Experience with a Virtual Assistant
Let me share with you my personal example of this. A story of how I met my virtual assistant, Nair Bonito.
I was looking for someone to support me. I needed a true collaborator to make bigger things happen. I found Nair scrolling through Instagram under the hashtag #virtualassistantuk. That seems pretty standard, right?
I checked out her content, her captions and photos and I felt drawn to her. I felt a calling to connect with her. So I reached out and we booked a call.
On that call, it was as if we had met before! We instantly clicked and had so many parallel threads of what we like and how we think, almost as if we were kindred spirits.
A kindred spirit is a type of SOUL CONNECTION. Kindred spirits are people who really get you beyond the surface level. You might have very similar viewpoints or even finish each other's sentences. It's incredibly peaceful to be with another soul who just gets it, or gets you and that’s how I feel around Nair!
Types of Spiritual Connections: Twin Flames, Soul Mates, Past Life Connections, Soul Contracts, and Soul Families
Did you know that there are many other types of spiritual connections? Maybe you’ve heard of or experienced some of them such as:
TWIN FLAMES
An intense soul connection and some people believe twin flames are actually one soul that was split into two bodies. According to this theory, twin flames can love, challenge, teach, and heal each other in a unique, yet powerful way. Their main mission is to help to awaken you to who you truly are.
SOUL MATES
Traditionally thought of in a romantic capacity but they can also very much be karmic, or companion soul mates. They are like spiritual sidekicks who are there to provide us with growth, guidance, and the opportunity to heal or facilitate change in our lives.
PAST LIFE CONNECTIONS
When two souls have shared a significant past life together (or perhaps several), if they meet again in this life they may be inexplicably drawn to each other. Often when souls come back together in this lifetime they are looking to heal something or do better this time around.
SOUL CONTRACTS
Soul contracts are agreements we make on a soul level to do certain things in this lifetime. You might have a soul contract to mentor a certain child, rescue a pet or write a book. Knowing if you have a soul contract around something or someone in your life is all about learning to follow your intuition, it feels like it was meant to be.
SOUL FAMILIES
Large groups of souls can be linked into soul families. This can show up as actual family members in this lifetime or as people working toward common goals to help heal something either in their family line or in an organisation or even globally across the planet.
Examples of Spiritual Connections in Daily Life
As I started to open up my understanding of CONNECTION and bring in more spiritual aspects of how I can connect, I realised that I have a lot of examples of these types of deeper almost otherwise inexplicable connections in my life.
1/ Friends and work colleagues in my life who I don’t see or speak to for months yet when we do connect it’s like no time has passed and there is no judgement or shame around not being in constant contact. In fact, we just pick up right where we left off. These connections go deep like we have known each other for lifetimes. You know who you are …
2/ The cousin of my partner who felt like a soul sister to me and she felt it too. I instantaneously felt the urge to nurture and support her during a time in her life when she needed it the most. I also felt a call to coach, guide and mentor her for a period of time beyond just helping out an extended family member in need.
3/ A fellow speaker from a conference in June, who I met on the last day, while walking from a dinner to a hotel room together. We instantly clicked, cared about the same things and desired to see the same kind of changes in the world of work and the world in general. We have been speaking every single Friday evening since to conspire on how together we could contribute to various causes we deeply care about.
4/ My friend’s 7-year-old daughter who from the first moment she saw me felt a connection to me. She wouldn’t let me go and she asked my friend if I could be part of their family. I later delved deeper into this with a past lives guide and they advised me that I had been this child’s grandmother in a past life!
I know that some of these examples and ideas may sound strange or even crazy or one may label them as ‘just coincidences’.
But, maybe, just maybe, there’s a tiny part of you that recognises those moments in your own life where you have experienced similar things and never really given them much thought.
Maybe for you, it’s the instant connection with certain people that just clicks and it is just so easy to talk to them from day one.
Maybe it’s hearing someone’s story and getting instant chills and feeling a deep knowing that this is a soul truth that you’re hearing and that connects you on a level much deeper than normal.
Embracing Deeper Connections with Others
What if we could embrace these ideas and feelings that we get rather than judge them as weird or strange?
What if we started to see these experiences and connections as an opportunity to deeply experience joy and find co-creators and collaborators to help us realise the truest version of ourselves and provide the soul medicine for what we may need at the moment that we meet them.
And by extension find people that can really support us to make the impact and change that we want to see in the world through our work. People who can help us spread our message or values in a much much deeper way. Or maybe even help to make our dreams come true.
Is there any other type of spiritual connection that you have experienced?
Otherwise, I have an invitation for you
Take a moment over the holiday season to connect with those people that you felt a special type of deeper CONNECTION with and rejuvenate your spirit and theirs.
